🐕Staffordshire Bull Terrier: gear and buying guides
The Staffordshire Bull Terrier, or Staffie, is a compact little powerhouse of 11 to 17 kg, famous for its overflowing affection towards people. Contrary to popular belief, pedigree Staffies are not a restricted category breed in France. A powerful chewer despite its size, it needs ultra-tough toys and a well-built harness.
Profile : Small muscular dog, 36-41 cm at the withers (11-17 kg), smooth single coat, medium-to-high energy level.

🍖
Food
Plan on roughly 150-250 g of kibble per day for a 14 kg adult depending on activity. Very muscular for its size, it does well on a protein-rich diet; some individuals have food allergies, worth investigating with your vet if itching appears.
-
🧴
Care & grooming
Its smooth coat needs just a weekly once-over with a rubber mitt. Staffie skin is known to be sensitive (allergies, demodex in some lines): use mild shampoos and watch for redness or spots.
-
🎾
Toys & enrichment
Its jaws are surprisingly powerful: only extra-tough rubber toys go the distance, while plush and thin toys are shredded in minutes. It loves tug games, best played with clear start and stop rules.
-
🏠
Bedding & habitat
A 70-90 cm bed suits it well. With no undercoat, it feels the cold: a cosy bed away from draughts, or even its own blanket, makes winter far more comfortable.
-
🧳
Travel & safety
A size M crate or a safety harness is enough for this compact frame. Given its muscle and enthusiasm, a well-fitted harness is more comfortable and secure than a plain collar.
-
🧰
Accessories
A size S/M Y-harness with wide straps (25-50 €), a solid lead and a winter coat, since its thin coat offers little protection from cold and rain. A lined waterproof coat runs 25-45 €.
