🐕Pomeranian: gear and buying guides
The Pomeranian is a miniature dog of 1.5 to 3.5 kg with a bold character and a fluffy coat. Despite its plush-toy size, it is a true spitz, alert and vocal, well suited to apartments. Its physical fragility (trachea, kneecaps) requires a proper harness and daily caution.
Profile : Miniature dog, 18 to 24 cm and 1.5 to 3.5 kg, fluffy double coat, lively energy in short bursts.

🍖
Food
Its ration is measured in tens of grams: around 40 to 70 g of mini kibble per day, split into 2 or 3 meals to prevent hypoglycemia in tiny dogs. Mini kibble and good dental hygiene are essential, as the breed is very prone to tartar and tooth loss.
-
🧴
Care & grooming
Its fluffy coat needs brushing 2 to 3 times a week with a soft slicker, down to the skin to prevent undercoat mats. Never shave it: clipping can trigger lasting hair loss (alopecia X) in this breed.
-
🎾
Toys & enrichment
Choose lightweight XS toys suited to its small jaw: mini balls, thin ropes, beginner-level puzzles. Quick and clever, it excels at tricks and clicker training, an excellent indoor mental workout.
-
🏠
Bedding & habitat
A cozy XS/S bed away from drafts is enough; many enjoy high-rimmed nest beds to snuggle in. Beware of jumps off the sofa: a ramp or pet stairs protect its fragile kneecaps (luxating patella is common in the breed).
-
🧳
Travel & safety
Its size makes it cabin-eligible on planes and welcome on most trains in an approved carrier bag (roughly under 46 cm). In the car, an XS crate or a secured booster seat is essential: at 2 kg, the slightest braking sends it flying.
-
🧰
Accessories
A harness is mandatory, never a collar: its fragile windpipe gets irritated by the slightest pull (tracheal collapse is common in toy breeds). A winter coat is useful despite the fluff, as its tiny body volume chills quickly in cold rain.
