🐕Weimaraner: gear and buying guides
The Weimaraner is a large silver-grey gundog, powerful, intelligent and highly demanding of activity and human presence. Its 25 to 40 kg athletic build calls for sturdy, large-sized gear, from harness to bed. Under-stimulated, this sensitive dog can develop marked separation anxiety.
Profile : Large dog of 57 to 70 cm and 25 to 40 kg, short silver-grey coat, very high energy.

Food
A very deep-chested breed, the Weimaraner is among the dogs most exposed to bloat: always split food into two meals, use a slow-feeder bowl if needed and enforce at least an hour of rest around exercise. Choose a large active-breed kibble and keep a puppy's growth slow and steady.

🧴
Care & grooming
The short grey coat needs little care: a weekly mitt brushing is enough. Focus instead on the drop ears, to be cleaned weekly, and on the nails, which some dogs wear down unevenly.
-
🎾
Toys & enrichment
This brilliant dog needs jobs: tracking, mantrailing, retrieving and tough stuffable rubber toys. Thirty minutes of nose work tires it more than an hour of running, a real asset on bad-weather days.

🏠
Bedding & habitat
Plan an XL bed (110 to 120 cm), ideally memory foam to protect this large frame's elbows and hips, placed in the living area since the breed copes badly with isolation. A fenced garden is a plus but never replaces structured outings.
-
🧳
Travel & safety
Budget for an XL travel crate or a boot divider: at 30 kg and more, an unrestrained dog is a real hazard under braking. A sturdy Y-harness with a back handle helps control this powerful dog, which pulls readily early in training.

🧰
Accessories
A 10 to 15 m long line is near-mandatory through adolescence, as hunting instinct can override recall. In cold, wet weather a lined coat is welcome: the short coat gives little protection when the dog is standing still.
