🐈Savannah: gear and buying guides
Bred from a serval crossed with a domestic cat, the Savannah is a tall, athletic and extremely energetic cat whose size varies widely by generation (often 4 to 10 kg, more for early generations). It needs space, height and daily stimulation. Note: keeping early generations is regulated in several countries, including France.
Profile : Large athletic cat (often 4 to 10 kg depending on generation), short spotted coat, very high energy.

🍖
Food
Highly active and muscular, the Savannah has above-average energy needs: a diet rich in animal protein, split into several meals or served via a feeder, is recommended. Some breeders suggest a portion of wet or raw food supervised by a veterinarian.
-
🧴
Care & grooming
Its short coat only needs weekly brushing. Many Savannahs enjoy water: a water fountain and supervised water play can enrich its daily life.
-
🎾
Toys & enrichment
This cat gets bored quickly: toy rotation, sturdy wand toys, fetch games and clicker training are near essential. Plan intense play sessions of 20 to 30 minutes at least twice a day.
-
🏠
Bedding & habitat
A large secure outdoor enclosure or catio is ideal to channel its energy, along with a very stable XXL cat tree (often 150 to 400 euros). It jumps very high: secure windows and balconies with netting.
-
🧳
Travel & safety
Use a large rigid crate, as for a small dog, and introduce a harness early: many Savannahs walk on a leash. Check local regulations: in France, generations close to the serval (F1 in particular) fall under non-domestic animal legislation.

🧰
Accessories
A well-fitted escape-proof harness, a high-flow water fountain and heavily weighted XXL scratchers are the basics. A large litter box (60 cm and up) better matches its size.
