Description
A hare bolts, there’s a road at the end of the field, and your dog can no longer hear you. At the moment recall matters most, your voice gives away your panic, and the dog reads it perfectly. As our guide explains, a whistle always sends the same signal, carries beyond the range of your voice, and the whole family can use it with the same result.
This metal whistle is tuned by screwing the tip in or out: you find the pitch your dog responds to, then lock the ring so it never changes again, because a signal that varies loses its point. The cap protects the mouthpiece in your pocket, and the neck lanyard keeps it within reach, even with gloves on.
About 8 cm, 15 g (24 g with lanyard). The adjustment range goes up to very high, so-called ultrasonic pitches that humans barely hear; for recall in open country, trainers prefer a pitch you can hear yourself, so you know the signal went out. The whistle does nothing on its own: you charge it by pairing it with a high-value reward, at home first, then outside.

On a very high setting you barely hear it. Set lower, it sounds like an ordinary whistle: choose once and lock the ring.
Will my dog come back straight away?
