Description
Short-nosed dogs, pugs, bulldogs, shih tzus, are among the breeds most at risk of heatstroke according to the Hall, Carter and O’Neill study (2020) cited in our guide. For them, a late-morning walk in July can already be too much. The first reflex is still to go out early, in the shade, with water; this snood is the small extra you take along when you can’t control everything.
It is a tube of textured cooling fabric, with no gel, crystals or chemicals according to the maker. Soak it, wring it out and slip it around the neck like a collar: the water held in the texture evaporates and cools the area. Ten minutes in the freezer after wringing gives a fresher feel at the start. It weighs next to nothing and fits in a pocket.
Three sizes (S, M, L); the maker doesn’t publish exact neck measurements: take S for a small dog, M for a medium dog such as a French bulldog, L for a heavier dog. It won’t prevent heatstroke on its own and should never be an excuse to stretch a walk in the heat: loud panting, a purplish tongue or a dog that flops down are emergency signs.

Frequently asked questions
Which size for a French bulldog?
Size M fits most French bulldogs; the maker doesn’t publish exact measurements, and you have 14 days to exchange it if needed.
How long does it stay cool?
As long as it is damp, usually the length of a short walk. Re-soak it if you pass water.
Is it enough to protect my dog from the heat?
No. It is an extra: cool hours, shade and water remain the real protection.
