In short: 8 to 15 cm as an adult depending on sex, 6 to 10 years of lifespan, beginner level. A nearly motionless ambush amphibian, it spends its days buried waiting for prey: do not expect spectacular activity. Its skin absorbs everything: strictly dechlorinated water, rinsed and wet hands for any handling, and solitary housing because cannibalism is very real.

For an adult Pacman frog: 40 × 40 × 30 cm minimum, with a basking spot at 26-28°C and a cool zone at 24-26°C. That gradient is not comfort: it is how a reptile regulates temperature, by moving. No cool zone means overheating; no hot spot means no digestion.
Heating, UVB, humidity: the technical trio
Heating ALWAYS runs through a thermostat — the least negotiable equipment in herpetoculture — with thermometers at both ends. On light: no mandatory UVB for this species, though a weak tube remains a plus according to recent references. Humidity held at 70 to 90% via misting (manual or automated) and the right substrate, checked with a hygrometer, not by feel.
Substrate and layout
A moisture-holding substrate (coco fibre, soil-sphagnum), two hides minimum — one warm, one cool — and a structured background for security. Place the enclosure somewhere calm: the species sleeps by day and hates vibrations.
