What terrarium size and budget should you plan for?
An adult corn snake (120 to 150 cm) settles well into a 90 to 120 cm long terrarium, for a complete setup of 200 to 350 €. The ball python, stockier but shorter (100 to 150 cm), needs a similar volume but a more precise basking spot around 32 °C: expect closer to 250 to 400 €. Which one eats more easily?
The corn snake is known for its robust appetite and almost always accepts thawed frozen prey without fuss. The ball python can go through fasting periods lasting several weeks, particularly during adolescence or after a change of environment: this is normal for the species, but it can worry a beginner.

Both species have a reputation for being calm and handle well once settled in. The ball python tends to curl into a ball under stress, which makes it easy to contain. The corn snake is quicker and more active, worth knowing to avoid escapes during handling.
