  The breed has a distinctive uric acid metabolism that predisposes it to urinary stones: a diet moderate in purines, agreed with your vet, and constant access to water matter. A water fountain encourages drinking.

• 🧴 Care & grooming

  Its short coat sheds surprisingly heavily all year round: a rubber grooming mitt used twice a week keeps white hairs off fabrics. The sometimes sensitive skin does best with occasional mild shampoos.

• 🎾 Toys & enrichment

  This runner needs real workouts: canicross, bike rides once adult, extended fetch sessions. Indoors, durable toys and puzzle games stave off the boredom of a dog that turns destructive without exercise.

  Plan on an L to XL bed of around 100 to 110 cm with comfortable padding, as the short coat gives little cushioning on hard floors. It copes poorly with long stretches alone in a small space without outings.
