🐈Sphynx: gear and buying guides
The Sphynx is a hairless cat with an exuberant, people-oriented temperament, usually weighing 3 to 5 kg. The lack of fur changes everything equipment-wise: it fears both cold and sun, and its skin produces sebum that requires regular baths. Plan for sweaters, heated beds and a skincare routine.
Profile : Medium-sized cat (3 to 5 kg), hairless or downy skin, high energy.

🍖
Food
Without insulating fur, the Sphynx spends energy maintaining its body temperature: it often eats more than a furred cat of the same size. A calorie- and protein-dense diet, served in several meals, suits it well.
-
🧴
Care & grooming
Its skin accumulates the sebum that fur would normally absorb: a bath every one to four weeks with a mild cat shampoo, depending on the individual, prevents greasy marks. Also clean its large ears and skin folds regularly, as they trap wax and grime.
-
🎾
Toys & enrichment
The clown of the household, the Sphynx plays with gusto and demands its humans' attention for much of the day. Interactive toys, tunnels and shared play sessions are essential to its wellbeing.

🏠
Bedding & habitat
Keep the home around 20 to 22 degrees Celsius and offer a heated or self-warming bed (20 to 50 euros) plus fleece blankets. In winter, a well-fitted cat sweater helps it stay warm without restricting movement.
-
🧳
Travel & safety
When travelling, shield it from draughts: a rigid carrier lined with a blanket, plus a sweater in winter. Also beware of the sun: its bare skin can get sunburnt behind a window or outdoors.

🧰
Accessories
Plan a specific budget: mild shampoo, cleaning wipes, two or three sweaters and a heated bed, roughly 80 to 150 euros of starter equipment. Its claws also collect sebum: regularly cleaning the grooves is useful.
