Description
Real driftwood needs one to two weeks of soaking, tints the water amber and can soften or rot if it was a poor choice. Our guide covers the safe woods and the problem ones. When you simply want to give your fish somewhere to hide without touching the water chemistry, a resin ornament avoids all that.
This hollow log is moulded in resin and covered with a green flocking that mimics moss, with bark and a few painted mushrooms. It has several openings: shy fish, youngsters and shrimp slip in for cover, which reduces stress in a tank that is too bare. The maker describes it as insoluble with no release into the water, and its surface hosts useful bacteria like any decoration.
Three models: A 16 × 10 × 7 cm, B 14 × 9 × 6 cm, C 15 × 5 × 7 cm (95 to 121 g), to pick according to the space you have. Rinse it in clean water before placing it, no soap. The flocking can catch deposits over time: a soft brush cleans it. Check that the opening is wide enough for your largest fish so none gets stuck.

Frequently asked questions
Will it tint the water like driftwood?
No. It is resin: no tannins, no soaking needed.
Does the flocking come off?
The maker gives no lifespan. Clean it with a soft brush and no product; hard scrubbing wears it faster.
Is it suitable for shrimp?
Yes, they happily hide in it, especially after moulting.
