Description
Click, click, click on the tiles: when you hear the nails at every step, they are too long. Our guide explains what that means for the dog: the paw’s stance changes, the toe joints take the strain, and the dewclaw, which never wears down on the ground, can grow into the pad. In a small indoor dog that mostly walks on smooth floors, it’s common.
These clippers are made for fine nails: the stainless steel blades form a half-moon notch that holds the nail and cuts it cleanly without crushing. At 8 × 5.5 cm and 25 g they give good precision on a small paw. The plastic rings take thumb and forefinger like a pair of scissors.
Cut a little at a time, just short of the pink part (the quick) visible on light nails; on black nails, take thin slices and stop as soon as a dark dot appears in the centre. They aren’t designed for a large dog’s thick nails. A dog that struggles or a split nail: hand over to a groomer or vet.

Frequently asked questions
Will they work on a Labrador?
No, they are sized for fine nails. A large dog needs sturdier clippers.
How do I avoid cutting the quick?
Cut thin slices, staying short of the pink area on a light nail. On a black nail, stop as soon as a dark circle appears in the centre of the cut.
