Description
Indoor cats don’t wear their claws down well: they catch on rugs and jumpers, and in older cats they can curl round into the paw pad. Trimming the tip every few weeks is enough, as long as the tool is the right size.
This clipper is held like a pair of scissors. The stainless-steel blades have a half-moon notch that cradles the claw: the cut is clean and the claw isn’t crushed. The plastic handles are non-slip, and the hook under the handle gives your little finger something to rest on. At 12.3 cm long, it is scaled for the paw of a cat, a rabbit or a small dog.
Only cut the clear tip, at least 2 mm from the pink part (the quick): cutting into it bleeds and hurts. On a dark claw where the quick can’t be seen, take off very little at a time. If your cat refuses any handling, a vet or groomer will do it in a few minutes.

Frequently asked questions
How often should claws be trimmed?
Usually every 3 to 6 weeks for an indoor cat, more often in older cats. Also check the dewclaw (thumb) on the front paws, which never touches the ground and never wears down.
What if I cut too short?
The claw bleeds. Press a clean pad on it for a few minutes; if the bleeding doesn’t stop or the paw swells in the following days, see a vet.
Is it suitable for a large dog?
No: it is made for thin claws. A medium or large dog’s nail needs a sturdier clipper.
