In short: 4 to 7 cm as an adult depending on the species, around 100 L for a group of 6, water between 22 and 26 °C. A peaceful, gregarious bottom fish, it sifts the sand in a group and gets stressed with fewer than six companions. Its barbels wear down on sharp or dirty substrate: fine sand is mandatory, and take care with salt and copper, which it tolerates poorly.

The Corydoras is an omnivore: a quality staple (flakes or granules) varied with frozen foods and greens. Its table is at the bottom: offer sinking wafers, dosed to vanish within two minutes — the surplus only feeds nitrates.
Frequency and variety
Feed little and often — one or two small servings a day — and grant a weekly fast without guilt: excess, never shortage, is what ruins tanks. In a group of 6 or more, check everyone reaches the food: dominants serve themselves first. Alternate dry, frozen and rinsed thawed prey across the week.
