Biodegradable bags: real promise or marketing claim?
Labels such as "biodegradable" or "compostable" cover very different realities depending on actual breakdown conditions (temperature, humidity, oxygen exposure); a bag meant to decompose in a few months can persist far longer in a standard landfill. Favour recognised certifications (such as EN 13432) rather than packaging claims alone, and remember that a properly tied bag remains essential even when biodegradable, to prevent any spillage.
Capacity and refill format
Rolls compatible with most standard dispensers avoid locking you into a single, often pricier, proprietary brand. For a large dog or several daily walks, a high-capacity dispenser limits frequent refills; for occasional use, a small compact model is plenty and stays forgotten in a pocket.
